Air Fryer Cinnamon Twists (Printer View)

Flaky twists with cinnamon sugar, baked quickly in an air fryer for a golden, delicious breakfast treat.

# Components:

→ Dough

01 - 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or pizza dough

→ Filling

02 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
03 - 1/4 cup brown sugar (50 g)
04 - 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

→ Glaze

05 - 1/2 cup powdered sugar (60 g)
06 - 1 to 2 tbsp milk
07 - 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

# Method steps:

01 - Preheat the air fryer to 350°F and allow it to heat for 3 minutes.
02 - Unroll the dough on a lightly floured surface and press to seal any seams.
03 - Brush the entire surface of the dough with the melted butter evenly.
04 - Combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
05 - Fold the dough in half lengthwise and gently press down to seal the edges.
06 - Cut the folded dough into 8 equal strips. Twist each strip several times and pinch the ends to secure.
07 - Place the twisted strips in the air fryer basket, spacing them apart to prevent sticking. Cook in batches if needed.
08 - Air-fry the twists at 350°F for 7 to 8 minutes until they turn golden brown and are fully cooked.
09 - While the twists cool slightly, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract together until smooth.
10 - Drizzle the glaze over warm twists and serve immediately.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They come together faster than driving to a bakery, and taste just as indulgent.
  • The air fryer gives you crispy edges and soft centers without heating up the whole kitchen.
  • You can make them with whatever dough you have on hand and still get that fresh-baked magic.
02 -
  • Don't skip preheating the air fryer or the dough won't puff up properly and you'll end up with dense twists.
  • Pinch the ends of each twist tightly or they'll unravel during cooking and lose that beautiful spiral shape.
  • Let the twists cool for at least a minute before glazing or the glaze will melt right off and pool at the bottom.
03 -
  • Use a pizza cutter instead of a knife for cleaner, quicker cuts that don't drag the dough.
  • If your air fryer runs hot, check the twists at 6 minutes to avoid over-browning.
  • For a richer glaze, swap half the milk with heavy cream and add a pinch of salt.
